The Integrative Approach to Treating Trauma and Substance Use (2.0 CEUs)

The vast majority of people with Substance Use Disorder have also experienced some type of trauma in their lives. Participants in this continuing education session will learn how to better:

  • Define traumatic stress and Substance Use Disorder
  • Provide information on the effects of substance use and trauma on brain functioning
  • Understand the different types of trauma and the components of trauma-informed care
  • Develop a basic understanding of effective treatments for people with traumatic exposure and Substance Use Disorder.

PRESENTER

Trish Caldwell
LPC, MFT, CAADC, CCDP-D, CCTP

Trish Caldwell MFT, LPC, CCDP-D, CAADC, CCTP, is the Sr Vice President of Clinical Services for Recovery Centers of America, an adjunct professor at Jefferson University, and a trauma trainer for Lakeside Global Institute. Trish has held various leadership positions over the last 27 years, and has specialized in families, young adults and adolescents with co-occurring behavioral health and substance use disorders. Additionally, in conjunction with the Delaware County Drug court, Trish created the first Young Offenders Treatment Program, supporting treatment over incarceration. Trish has also created the unique family programming, Seeds to Recovery offered to families impacted by substance use across the country. Trish is a regular speaker at national and international conferences and holds a small private practice in the state of PA.
