NIEAPA is successful due to our engaged and dedicated membership. Every other month, the membership committee's "Member Spotlight" blog series will feature and thank some of our most engaged members. 

This month's "Member Spotlight" interviewed Don Mitckess who will present at NIEAPA's 2025 Conference. Don took some time with us to share his experiences and appreciation for NIEAPA:

1. Why did you join NIEAPA?

I joined NIEAPA when I got my first job in clinical outreach. Many people who I knew and respected were members or board members of the organization. NIEAPA's mission aligned closely with my experience in Student Assistance programs, which made joining and, eventually, becoming a board member a natural decision.

2. How has NIEAPA helped advance your career in employee assistance?

The relationships and friendships I have formed while as a NIEAPA member greatly contributed to my career growth over the past 20 years. Building these relationships have helped improve my advocacy and communication for those who are seeking or being referred for care.

3. What is your favorite experience as a NIEAPA member?
